What we do
Burns & Co. Group is a group of specialist practices built around a simple idea: that good advice comes from people who have done the work, not from people who have read about it. The group brings together legal services, professional consultancy, early-stage investment, speaking and public service work, and charitable activity under one roof, so that individuals and businesses can find the right expertise without moving between unrelated advisers.
Our legal practice, Burns & Co. Legal, handles residential and commercial conveyancing, agricultural law, corporate and commercial work, business sales and transfers, and day-to-day business law. Burns & Co. GC provides fractional general counsel to growing companies that need senior legal leadership without the cost of a full-time hire. Alongside those sit advisory, investment and public service work, and a programme of community and charitable support.
Who we work with
We work with homeowners and landowners, owner-managed businesses, growing companies, founders looking for early-stage backing, and people working in public life. Many of our clients are in Essex, London, Cambridgeshire and Gloucestershire, though much of what we do is not limited by geography.
What our clients tend to share is a preference for straightforward advice, clear fees and a named person who knows their situation.
Who we are
Burns & Co. Group is a trading style of Burns and Company Professional Limited, led by Joe Burns. Joe's background spans law, business and public service, and the group is built to reflect that: practical, commercially minded, and comfortable working at the point where legal questions meet commercial decisions.
The practices within the group are deliberately small and senior. You deal with the person doing the work.
How we work
We keep things simple. Fees are agreed in advance wherever we can. Advice is given in plain English. Where a matter needs a specialist, we say so and bring the right person in rather than stretching ourselves beyond our expertise. And where we are not the right fit, we will tell you that too, quickly and without a fee.
